Frequently Asked Questions.
How often do you update your shop
Usually in the first week of a new month. There is not always a new design available, but other news or themes might pop up later in that month.
I ordered the wrong language for my pattern.
Let me know! Sometimes I catch it right away, but if i don't, give me a call. I will send it to you in the right language.
If you order a kit, the default pattern will be in English, but if you want Dutch, I will send the pattern separately when I process the order.
In which languages are the patterns available.
All patterns are in English and most of them are available in Dutch too (except for the baubles). That's is why there are 2 pages for each pattern.
When you accidentally order the wrong language, let me know, I will send you the prefered language.
Is there support?
Yes! I have a YouTube channel with several video's, showing you a range of shawls and sometimes techniques that are used in knitting Shetland Lace.
I am a bit camera shy, so that's why there aren't a lot of those, yet. Working up to adding more.
You can also send me a chat, via this shop, messenger or instagram and I will do my best to help you. I can clarify things and sometimes even do drawings to clear things up.
Not that my patterns are difficult, but sometimes looking at it from a slightly different angle, can help.
Do not hesitate to ask.
I write my patterns in, what I think, is fairly general knowledge. But sometimes, you just need a bit more.
Do you sell yarns?
No, I'm not a stockist for brands or have my own brand. I sometimes buy more of a particular yarn to make a kit. Because a pattern can be so pretty in just THAT colour!
Then I make a kit with the accompanied yarn available.
That means that the yarn will not be available again or separately.
SALE!
Yes, there can be sales at some point in the year. But not at a frequent set date or time.
Usually, I don't do a discount for a new pattern anymore.
However I do offer a discount or a first opportunity for Newsletter members.
I've ordered an pattern, can you print it for me?
No. In these days, everything is happening digitally. Some have a tablet and read the pattern rows that way. That saves on printing paper and ink.
When I would offer a printed version, there would be P&P which makes it a whole lot more expensive. Some patterns have up to 15 pages...
I've ordered a kit, when can I expect it?
At any point, I will ship it the next business day. I still have a dayjob and can not always be in time at the postoffice. When it is sent, the order will be fulfilled and you will get a notification e-mail. After that point, it's in the hands of the postal company in your region.
Please allow the legal 28 days for delivery. Most often, it will be there in a week or 10 days.
Do you do commissions?
No.
Not anymore. I've been happily knitting them since 2009, but I've reached the point that I can't let them go anymore.
At some point, there might be shawls for sale in the shop, but I will not be knitting a custom made shawl anymore.
Can I return my item and get my money back?
Yes, for a kit or a physical item.
No, for a digital file. I can only change the language for said item. The descriptions for the patterns are clear and you can always ask me for more details before your purchase.
Do the patterns have written out rows?
Usually no. There are a few exceptions and that will be mentioned in the description of a pattern.
There are many support programs, like Stitch Mastery or Stitch Fiddle that can transfer charted items into written rows.
I also have parts in the YouTube video's (@apassionforlace) that explain the symbols used in the patterns, to help you reading a chart.
