Fors is the Old Norse word for Waterfall. This shawl is in memory of the landscape of Norway. Unique, timeless and one of a kind. The shawl is knit in 2 colours, and at the same time. Three parts: grey 1, blue, grey 2. NO stranded knitting.
Yarn : 200gr Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk sokkegarn 1 / Bonde ‘lys grå’ (100gr / 500m) 25gr Knitting for Olive ‘soft silk mohair’ 70% Mohair, 30% Silk (225m/ 25gr) ‘Deep petroleum blue’
Needles: 4mm or US 6
Size: 200cm x 82 cm./ “ x “
Also: Tapestry needle to weave in ends, 10 stitch markers, mild detergent for washing, blocking kit and T pins for blocking, towel.
The beautiful and slightly variegated yarn from Hillesvåg, comes 2 skeins in 1. Ideal for this project. Skein both up as 2, so you have a ball for either side.
** You therefore need 2 complete skeins** = 2 x 2 mini skeins. The Hillesvåg factory is actually in the bay, to the left, when you sail from Bergen to Mo.
The Knitting for Olive silk/mohair will be used in the centre, the wave pattern representing ‘water’ and already comes in a ball.
The shawl set up = Grey 1 (right side), Blue, Grey 2 (left). Due to the width of either side, the right side will take up more grey.
Later on, you need to redistribute the yarn, to complete both sides. You will not run short when you keep to the instructions.
