Sunnborg. One of the old names for what is now Sumburgh. It has had many names, Svinborg (Hjaltland map) or even Swynebroche. I wanted to name my shawl for it, because that is where I first set foot on Shetland soil. Or rather, rock. Loved the islands eversince. The shawl comes in 1 size, but two others are optional. The length will stay the same but the width can differ. Options: 110cm (original), 75cm or 60cm wide. For the 110cm you'll need 2500m, for the 75cm you'll need 1700m and for the narrow approx. 1350m. To make sure you do not run short on yarn, buy more. Or buy a cone.
YARN: 2485m / 1035gr ColourMart 2/48 NM Cashmere/Cotton/Silk Needles: 2,0 mm or US 0 and perhaps a smaller sized needle (life line insertion). Size110cm x 194cm (during blocking) / 43” x 76” during blocking. Also: T-pins for blocking, detergent for washing, sewing needle, large bath towels (1 dry, 1 damp).Options for blocking: frame + silk yarn or foam mats, or a bed.
